Scratched glass: recover clarity, appearance and value

Recover clarity and appearance in scratched glass at construction sites, hotels, residences or vehicles. Specialized restoration before replacement.

Scratches alter transparency and reflection even when the glass remains intact. Grupo GNOVIA corrects superficial and deep lines caused by cleaning, sand, tools or use while keeping the glass installed.

Before replacing the glass, choose a specialized restoration.Grupo GNOVIA restores superficial and deep damage with the glass installed when the glass remains intact and safe access is available.

How does this damage occur?

  • Cleaning with blades, scrapers or abrasive pads
  • Sand, construction dust, and trapped particles
  • Movement of furniture or contact with metal
  • Improper maintenance and unsuitable tools

Visible and operational consequences

  • Distorts reflections and reduces transparency
  • Deteriorates the appearance of façades, rooms, and furniture
  • They create handover, post-construction or maintenance issues
  • On windshields they increase reflections and visual fatigue

Restore before replacing

For scratches, replacement means manufacturing, removing and resealing a pane that still retains its integrity. Restoration reduces disruptive operations and recovers the pane’s appearance through a controlled intervention.

Technical scope and limitations

For scratches, there is usually an approximate limitation of 4 to 7 cm from certain edges. The final scope depends on the system, glass type, access and assessment.

We do not work on broken, cracked, fractured glass or damage that structurally compromises the glass.

Where does it usually occur?

Construction, hospitality, residential, and automotive.

Evaluate my case

Annealed glass and thicknessWe do not recommend restoring 6 mm annealed glass because its lower resistance makes it more difficult to withstand the process. Annealed glass 9 mm or thicker is more likely to withstand the intervention; even so, the service is performed only under the client’s responsibility and with prior acceptance of this condition. We do not work on broken, cracked or fractured glass.

Experience with different glass configurations

Grupo GNOVIA has documented experience restoring tempered, laminated, annealed and insulated glass in different thicknesses and access conditions. Each pane is evaluated according to its configuration, location, damage depth and proximity to the edges.

Polishing scratched glass is performed through a controlled sequence that corrects the surface and recovers clarity without removing the pane when the glass remains intact.

Approximate edge limitation

Scratches normally have an approximate limitation of 4 to 7 cm from certain edges, depending on the system, glass type and access.

Frequently asked questions

Is the work performed with the glass installed?

Yes. We work with the glass installed as long as it remains intact and safe access is available, avoiding removal and reducing disruption to your space.

Can tempered glass be restored?

We restore tempered glass with superficial or deep damage as long as the glass is not broken, cracked, fractured or structurally compromised.

Does the glass become distorted or weakened?

The specialized process recovers the surface in a controlled manner without distorting the glass or altering its function. Before starting, we confirm the scope using the case’s technical information.

Can deep damage be restored?

Yes. We restore deep damage when the glass remains intact; depth determines the work sequence and time, but by itself does not require replacement.

How is the price determined?

It depends on the type and depth damage, area, number of panes, access, height, location, sector and volume.

When is restoration not possible?

We do not work on broken, cracked, fractured glass or damage that structurally compromises the glass.

What happens near the edges?

For scratches, there is usually an approximate limitation of 4 to 7 cm from certain edges. The final scope depends on the system, glass type, access and assessment.

In which sectors does it occur most frequently?

Construction, hospitality, residential, and automotive.

What happens if a pane cannot withstand the process?

This is very uncommon because Grupo GNOVIA personnel are trained to restore glass and work with a controlled sequence. In exceptional cases, previously damaged glass might not withstand the intervention. If that occurs, we do not charge for the service performed on that pane; however, we do not assume the replacement cost glass that was already damaged before work began. This condition is explained clearly before the work starts.

Do you need an on-site visit to confirm the service?

Not in most cases. We confirm the service remotely using the damage description, measurements, glass type, location and access. On-site visits are mainly reserved for construction projects or projects with a large volume glass.
